2010

Dear Members of The Arts, Hancock County,

Congratulations! Thanks to the hard work of members, artists and supporters of the arts we proudly celebrate the fifth anniversary of the founding of The Arts, Hancock County, Mississippi. Created in 2003, The Arts, Hancock County, Mississippi has evolved from a small arts service organization to a regional arts marketing and advocacy partner shaping the recovery of the artistic life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

In this short period of time--and working through the agonizing personal and community disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina-- the organization has proudly met its goals of serving as a non-profit umbrella organization inclusive of all artists and artisans; provided leadership in advancing the arts in economic and community development; supported art education; generated support for the arts through a network of supporters and patrons; and increased awareness of the value of the arts and artists as a major quality of life asset.

In 2008 we have elected a new Board of Directors and set of officers; held facilitated sessions to formulate the organization's vision, mission and objectives; and continued to provide local and national opportunities for mebers to show and sell their work. The continued enthusiasm of you, the members, and your dedication to build back the artistic and economic life of our community promise more success in the second half of our first decade.

Sincerely,
Kay Gough
President, The Arts, Hancock County, Mississippi
