JoAnn works in many mediums including, oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media. Along with traditional canvas paintings, shown in galleries along the coast, JoAnn creates custom murals.

JoAnn primarily works with acrylics, it allows her to produce pieces that are bright, exciting and fun. The water, marine creatures, food, history and culture offer a wonderful opportunity of expression in her paintings how much she loves living here. She is always researching, learning new techniques, and experimenting with new products. “It expands my desire to create pieces ranging from realist to abstract. Working in different mediums challenges me to keep things fresh and new.”

Wheeler is also active in the local Gulf Coast Festivals and Art Shows, and a member of The Arts, Hancock County and the Biloxi Art Association, Ocean Springs Art Association
