Maryellen moved to Mississippi from the D.C. area in 1976 when the Navy transferred her and her husband’s jobs to Stennis Space center. She retired in 1999 after almost 35 years as a scientific illustrator/graphics designer. As a child she attended the Corcoran Gallery Summer Art School in Washington D.C. and later continued her studies in Rome, Italy and EinHod, Israel. She received her B.F.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with a major in oil painting. Maryellen has enjoyed teaching children’s watercolor during the summers and will start a drawing class this winter for the Diamondhead Continuing Education Program. Favorite subjects are animals and children.
