“Monoprint” is a printmaking technique in which each image is unique. An inked printing surface or plate is impressed onto paper using a printing press. Additional colors are applied by inking and printing additional plates.
Here on the Gulf Coast, the landscape and the sea with its violent storm have become my subject matter. The metallic, interference and iridescent inks and gold, copper and silver foils seen in my prints result from my Art History studies of 6th Century AD Byzantine-Styled Mosaics from Ravenna, Italy, created from colored glass backed with gold and silver foil.
All materials used in my studio are non-toxic and environmentally friendly. My inks are non-toxic and my mats and backings are all archival.
